How does Booster Gold feel about Jaime Reyes, given the old Blue Beetle, Ted Kord, was his bestie?

On November 10th, 2014, /u/daxdaxdax asked the following on /r/DCcomics:

[Prior to the New 52 reboot, how did] Booster Gold feel about Jaime Reyes?

Their relationship was pretty good. Obviously it was a bit weird for Booster with this new legacy hero following on from his dead best bud, but they actually got along well. They actually met basically right at the beginning of Jaime’s career during Infinite Crisis:

The scarab came to Earth in El Paso, Texas, where Jaime picked it up. Not long after, Booster Gold appeared at Jaime’s house to retrieve it, but it had fused itself to Jaime’s spine while he was sleeping. Booster recruited Jaime for Batman’s assault on the Brother Eye satellite, since the scarab was the only thing that could see the satellite.

There were lot of great moments that really cemented their working relationship. There’s a part where Jaime and the scarab are going to sacrifice themselves and Booster appears to save them, with lots of parallels with him not being able to save Ted. Their time travel adventure in the Booster Gold comic to save Ted is also great, as is their team-up (basically with a new JLI) during the great Justice League: Generation Lost series, just prior to Flashpoint.

Time travel with Booster, Ted, Jaime and Dan Garrett and a future Blue Beetle!

If you haven’t read it, I cannot recommend the Rogers run on Blue Beetle enough. It was, in my opinion, the best book DC was making at the time and a fantastic read. Early on – from memory toward the end of the first trade, but I’d have to check and aren’t near my bookshelf – Booster, Guy, Fire and Ice turn up and there’s an impromptu JLI reunion with Jaime in their backyard and it’s brilliant, and includes lots of love for Ted.

Here’s a perfect panel actually that shows them being chums, from Booster Gold:

So yeah, they worked together a bunch, and depsite it being a bit off for Booster, they got along great :)

Bonus: One of the best things about Jaime’s original Blue Beetle series was his family, so enjoy a little, related, scene with his little sister, Milagro:
